It’s the season of L-O-V-E!

But for military kids and families, this might be one of the hardest months to survive. With parents deployed around the globe, or stationed far from extended family, it can be hard to feel the love.
Take some time this month to show MilKids, and their families, that you care!
Bring a sweet treat to a military unit
Everyone likes cookies, candy and chocolate. Even battle hardened troops. I’m married to a Marine, so I can vouch for this one!
Find out if there are geo-bachelors, or married service members stationed without their families, or single troops at a base or unit near you. Then whip up something sweet and bring it by!
Send your love via USPS
For military families far from home, send them a loving message, card or care package! For cards, send a note that shows how much you appreciate their service and sacrifice.
Stuff melt-proof candy, like SweetHearts, along with stickers and other small gifts. Think: dollar store or dollar aisle goodies. My daughter likes getting window clings, coloring books and fancy socks from her grandparent who live far away.
Donate to a MilKid friendly cause

Help military connected children feel the love year round by donating to a charity that supports them. KOAH is a great place to do just that!
No money? No problem! KOAH, and other military connected organizations, need help with content creation, spreading the message and providing services.
Mostly, we just want to help you help military families. And we’ll take that help anyway that you can give it!
Swing by a DoD school
If you live east of the Mississippi or overseas, there might be a Department of Defense school near you. Get in touch with their main office and see if they need help.
Often primary and elementary schools are looking for classroom aides and other volunteers. Middle and high schools could use your help to get their students more connected to the local community or teach specialized lessons.
Or just leave a thank you note for the teachers, along with a snack. These teachers work hard all day long! And they also deal with all the bumpy roads of military life through their students.

Already showing your love for the military community? Help others feel connected, too! Less than 1% of US citizens serve in the military. Many families don’t know a service member or veteran.
Let’s get everyone involved! Share this post with on your social media accounts, to your email contacts or with your community and church groups.
Make February the month to show Kids of America’s Heroes some serious L-O-V-E!
